  • I'm supposed to update more but have been otherwise occupied or at least at a rare loss for words. Here's what I've been up to in a nutshell:

    • Bought two new pairs of shoes (pictures of the loves of my life to follow)
    • Received my tax refund
    • Finally paid my law school initial deposit
    • Started watching Gossip Girl (white kids are crazy!)
    • Wondered how on earth people don't like tofu -- I have it at least once or twice a week
    • Went to Sushi O Sushi with anhs Chuong and Huey to pay up on losing two bets
    • Saw the play, The Kite Runner (which was great)
    • Saw the movie, All About Dad, which was good but the story resolved itself too easily -- even though I didn't like how easily the story wrapped up, a lot of the movie resonates with me
    • Wanted to punch multiple people in the neck
    • Bought a flat iron that is supposed to be all-in-one, but I still can't figure out how to get my hair wavy (I'm just happy this thing lets my hair hold a curl)
    • Visited Ellen at Dai Loi in Grand Century
    • Painted my nails three times
    • Went to downtown Mountain View and loved it (it's filled with restaurants, dogs, and bookstores)
    • Ate a lot of yogurt (frozen and homemade)
    • Hung out with Lorraine, Kevin, and Michelle
    • Started going online again
    • Went to temple a bunch of times
    • Figured out I was not reading the phonetically spelled out Sanskrit correctly because of my bac ky accent
    • Missed my grandma

Ack, now I just remembered that I promised to bake my cousin, chi Rita's famous cheesecake for a friend's birthday tomorrow. The monster takes forever to make. That's what you get, though, when you help me do my taxes for nothing but my continuing friendship. I'm eternally grateful. I also have a ton of laundry to which to attend... that's what you get when you're me and no one cares about your depleting collection of fresh unmentionables.

It's official: Huy and I have been together for one year over one year. Or as he said earlier yesterday, "It's only been a year?" Sweet.

I am part of the Hillary Generation of women, so it feels almost treasonous to admit that I hate being single. I did take a 1.5-year break from men/dating after the break-up of my last relationship -- and maybe it was a much-needed break to make sure that the next relationship into which I fell was not a rebound or otherwise meaningless relationship -- but most of that break was involuntary.  Anyway, I loathed being single. Of course, there were parts that were good and fun, but for the most part, I prefer having someone who listens, makes me laugh, and upon whom I can shower my boundless affection through my relentless bouts of physical violence and verbal tirades.

Here's to the person who says he receives a Chris Brown beating from me every day of his life, who loves golf too much, who hates the music to which I listen, and who makes me very happy: Happy anniversary, anh.

  • I'm in law school!

I'm so excited! I'm still waiting to hear back from two other schools, so it's hard to tell at this point which school I'm going to be attending, but I'm already 95% sure where I'm going.

Next, I need money. Tons of it. I also possibly need a place to live. I might want to try living closer to school, but it's sooooooo expensive down there. It all depends on how much money I get from loans, financial aid, and saving. We'll see!

Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point.

Joyce, Janelle, and Randy -- thank you for taking me to LSAT classes, listening to the complaining, sobs, and self-doubt, always encouraging me, ensuring me I am not an idiot, and for getting me through it all.

Ken -- thank you for studying with me, keeping me sane and focused, telling me I needed to send in transcripts and letters of recommendation, keeping me focused on the big picture, talking to me while we studied 16 hours a day, spending Election Night 2008 with me, and for the notes I missed in class

Huy -- thank you for being there to catch the 6 gallons of tears I cried over the stupid LSAT, the positive thinking, making me want to be a better person/student, the constant support, staying on the phone with me while I applied to different schools for hours, making sure I ate/drank enough while studying, and for telling me you'd like me no matter if I were a lawyer, judge, or paralegal

Part 1 of my 10-year plan is under way. Let's see how it goes.

  • Long time.............. I know.

I love the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I kind of knew they'd be coming out with a CD soon, because they always release a CD in three-year increments (2003, 2006, and then this year!) I loved "Is Is." It was an EP and totally worth the eight dollars. I usually don't buy EPs, but that one might have changed my mind completely about EPs. Life-changing stuff.

Oh yeah, so I'm having weight problems. Because I had two different food poisoning episodes in the last year, I have lost weight. Someone at work told me I have no butt. My pants are a lot looser than they were before, but I still have junk in the trunk! Ugh, the way she put it though made it sound as if I were the female Carpenter. I'm trying to gain back the 3-5 pounds I lost just so I don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe, but it's actually difficult. I don't want to start eating everything in sight because it'll be so hard to grow out of that lifestyle later.

Just a quick update. I'll try to write something more substantial later when I'm not dying of starvation.
